December is the most important time of year for fundraising. Nearly 30% of all giving for the year happens in December and the average amount people give is nearly 40% higher than throughout the rest of the year. Nonprofits should do everything in their power to encourage that generosity and provide people with easy, persuasive reasons to follow their hearts this time of year.
Below are a few highlights from an informative blog post on how you can boost the donations that come your way before the New Year (link to full post below).
Create a donation page on your website.
Make it as easy as possible for people to give you donations. Having an easily accessible donation page on your website, with multiple donation amounts and payment options, greatly increases the chances you’ll catch your visitors in the giving spirit!
Offer gift options.
Another way to increase the giving spirit is to offer something in return. Offering branded low cost items or t-shirts for different donation levels can provide a little incentive and bring additional satisfaction.
Ask large sponsors to match gifts.
Having a large sponsor willing to match donations for a certain period of time or amount, can greatly increase people’s willingness to donate. It makes them feel like what they give is instantly doubled!
Make it easy for donors to spread the word.
Seeing the giving spirit in people always increases the giving spirit in others. Setting up easily shareable donation pages and “I just donated” messages, helps spread the word about your organization and the likeliness that others will donate.
